Friday Favorite (St. Patrick's Day Style)

This Sunday is the St. Patrick's Day parade. I'm sure this isn't only in Buffalo (or maybe it is), but this holiday is kind of a big deal here. Not because the majority of us are Irish, but because Buffalo is a big drinking town. We like to party. So do the Irish. So we get together with the Irish, pretend that we are in fact part of their heritage, and join them in the celebrations. It works quite well.
Every year it involves planning and preparation. Where do we start? How can we possibly make this day a shit show? I'll tell you:

Sunday
8am: kegs and eggs. have to have a balanced breakfast.
9am-2pm: drinking; at a party, on the street, in parking lots, where everyone is dressed in green attire.
2pm-3pm: the parade, that most of us didn't even realize just happened.
3pm-?: more drinking

Monday
Call off of work. Or if you were smart, you took a vacation day (I learned from last year and am prepared).

You would think after a few years of participating, this celebration would get old. You're wrong. This is the second best day next to Christmas in Buffalo. Maybe we have a problem - or, maybe you do. Sorry we're not sorry.
