Friday Favorite: Be Our Guest

This Friday, my friend Nicole provided a post. In true pep rally fashion, here she is:

Guest blogger Nicole again!!!
So aside from trying to save the environment, I am a HUGE Bills fan!  I was brought up a fan by my father and brother, who are die hards.  I totally understand why some of you are bandwagon fans (from some disappointing seasons) but what the team needs most is our support through wins and losses!
We (I like to refer the team and fans as “we” because I feel like we are all fighting the same fight to win) won the last two games, and this Sunday’s game is a BIG one.  We are playing the New England Patriots.  They are on a two game losing streak and we NEED to make it three!  We beat them last year, making this year not seem so impossible.  So what I’m asking of you this Sunday is to put on your Bills jersey, turn on the game and show your support.  Also, don’t forget to recycle your beer cans from the game (I had to throw it in there).
GO BILLS!

What I Love About Sunday

... a day late, I know! Sometimes work does get most of my attention. This weekend my friends and I sent Summer along its way with the only way we know how - happy hour. & a quick stop at Walgreens?

Friday Favorite

Today is the official last day of Summer; and while I'll miss it for sure, I'm completely ready to be indulging in anything pumpkin flavored, boots and scarves, and the morning chill that convinces you to stay in bed for just 10 more minutes.
I plan on celebrating the end of Summer with a happy hour with friends; how will you send off Summer?
Two of my favorite things this week:

my favorite person; snoring on my lap

urban decay's lust eyeliner; have been wanting a plum liner for months now.

Target Mini-Haul

It never fails, and I'm positive I'm not the only one that falls victim to this: You walk into Target to buy something that is pretty boring (like toilet paper, Kleenex) and walk out with items that you had no intentions of purchasing. Something just lured you in - and you could not resist. That happens to me way too often, but I figured this could at least benefit you and turn into a little review! :)

e.l.f. liquid liner - $1. and fantastic - wore it for a night out & it did not disappoint.

e.l.f. complexion brush - $3. has soft bristles unlike other inexpensive brands, and provides even coverage.

revlon colorstay whipped foundation - about $11. saw this on another review, & had to try it out. let's face it: our summer tans are fading [at least here in Buffalo], and we need a little more coverage for those imperfections. whipped foundation makes it feel light and not cakey, and provides great coverage.

maybelline one by one mascara - about $6 not my favorite mascara, but it does get every lash covered. i usually go for the mascara with the over sized brush, and this is the exact opposite.

The Josephine Files - #2

I was with Josephine this weekend, at my cousins bridal shower. I thoroughly enjoyed explaining what a mimosa is to her, and watching her milk it for the next 30 minutes after. At one point, she saw that I had finished mine and graciously offered hers to me, with a disgusted look on her face. "Here" she said, "I'm already a little loopy".
Don't worry, Josephine. I'll finish that for you.

What I Love About Sunday

This morning was one of those mornings where my alarm went off and I thought "It's Sunday, why is my alarm going off?" - and then 10 minutes later you realize it's true - it's really Monday. Ugh. This weekend was great though, and also B's 2nd birthday [first with us]. Did I really buy him a birthday hat? Obviously. He loved it.
What I loved was the package of Oreo's that I bought and finished in the same day- double stuffed. Yea - it was one of those Sundays.

Friday Favorite

cocoa krispies: a childhood favorite, a fantastic late night snack now.

friday decisions: earthtone eyeshadows

murad cleanser: performing miracles on a daily basis

officially a put together nightstand

Out of my Friday Favorites, my absolute favorite [besides the obvious eyeshadows] is actually my nightstand. Surprisingly, it's been a little difficult for me to figure out the essentials of what actually is needed without looking too crowded. I've narrowed it down to the following:
1) Candles: while reading or just relaxing, candles instantly add comfort. you'll find these in every room of my apartment, always lit.
2) Hand Creams & Lip Balm: with me everywhere I go, and the last thing I do before I fall asleep. You never know when you'll need to moisturize (I do perhaps a little too often).
3) Books: I love a good book, and it helps me unwind from the day.
4) Note Pad: for any random thoughts I may have, things I can't forget or need to buy. It's much better than trusting you'll remember it in the morning.

What do you keep on your nightstand?

Apple Cider Vinegar

I'm always looking for at home remedies; things that you have laying around the house that can turn into something pretty amazing when put together. I stumbled across Apple Cider Vinegar - as a toner for your face. This toner is something you can use to help clear your skin or simply improve your overall complexion. I was intrigued, kept reading, made my own and have been using it for about a week! Learn more below.

The malic and lactic acids in vinegar help soften and exfoliate the skin, and helps tone skin to its proper pH. Your skin is naturally acidic, and needs to remained balanced. The ACV has an acidity of about 3, and when diluted, helps bring your skins pH level back to it's normal levels.

How to make:

You can use a 1:1 ratio of ACV & diluted water - this is totally up to you and your skin type, and can be diluted according to your skins sensitivity. Mix.
Note: it's always better to use organic products, but I didn't have that in my cupboard so I just used what I had.

... and there's your toner! No, really. It's that easy. Next, follow these steps:

mix ACV and water together.

put toner on cotton pad

beware: it smells. like vinegar. you'll get over it.

swipe across face.

optional: rinse and pat dry. I always rinse after about 2 minutes of applying the toner.

Viola! You now have your own skin clearing toner for about $3.

It's Over

That fabulous vacation of mine is over with. I must say - I enjoyed not working probably a bit too much. As much as I do not want to admit, it does feel good to be back on the grind. When you're staycationing, and you complete everything on your list of things to do, you're left with no choice but to go to happy hours and relax. Especially when a Blue Moon occurred - there wouldn't be any other way to celebrate. So I did - a lot. Which is also why I'm wondering where all my money went.

find out what I did with this in tomorrow's post!
