Friday Favorite

This post may be a little more on the serious side of my usual posts. I truly believe everything happens for a reason; although you may not end up in the most ideal situation (i.e. moving back home), lessons are learned and that's how you grow as a person. These past two weeks have really brought that point home - and i'm so thankful that i can still see the positive in each situation. It's all about perspective.

What I Love About Sunday

This weekend held a lot of changes, and in true fashion the hair transformed along with me (what do you think?!). In desperate need of some retail therapy, I did some minor damage to the credit card (fall forward, right?). In the midst of this 'fall transformation', I found the cutest serving tray [below] at Target that I'm using to hold candles, pictures and other random items. Oh, Target ... you get me everytime.

Friday Favorite

In my wishes for fall post, I noted a hair color that I adored and would be getting very soon. Tomorrow is the day! I'll no longer be considered a brunette, will I? [I'm actually semi-depressed about this]. I know it's just hair, but in a way it's part of who you are.
I started looking for new colors probably at the end of August - yes, it takes me that long to make up my mind. After scanning through the staple "chestnut brown" options (my go-to), I decided enough was enough! Change is needed.
I stumbled upon this picture, and my mind was made up. The perfect fall color and just enough change. I made the appointment - there's no turning back. So say goodbye, brown hair with highlites; you'll be missed, but I'll see you next summer.

The Josephine Files - #3

Last night, I paid Josephine a visit. As usual, she graciously offered her opinions on any topic that came up and I loved every minute.

Let's start with the dress that she is wearing to my cousins December wedding (see picture below). Not only does she really like it, she says "...it makes me look skinny, taller and hides my hernia. I have a dress, a necklace and new pair of heels to go with it. All I have to do is show up. That's if God doesn't take me first."
Always so optimistic.

She quickly changed the subject, explaining that a friend of hers has been moved into a nursing home. What a shame. I was sternly reminded that she will NOT get put into a nursing home, ever. Not to even think about it. "They are stupid and I will not follow their rules. I would rather die."
That must why she has this sign hanging on her closet door. Just in case people thought about it.

Her Halloween decor is superb, and I feel like the picture just speaks for itself. Tag still attached. No worries that it's actually garland, and should be hung along the door. Nope - not in Josephine's house.

What I Love About Sunday

Saturday we traveled to Ellicotville, NY for Oktoberfest. If you've never been to Ellicotville, it's a beautiful place - especially in the fall. This is a weekend long festival completed with day drinking and food; those being two of my favorite things, this was a great weekend for me.

What I Love About Sunday

Simple faces. Sundays are usually the days I give my face and hair a break; skip the foundation, the blow-dryer and straightener and just let everything breathe. It's the day of rest, right? This Sunday was very laid back - I went to a friends house to watch the football game and did a ton of laundry. While I didn't want to go bare faced, I kept it really simple. I'm curious, what's your Sunday face?
