Trip and a half

This weekend is my cousin's wedding. It's a big deal for two major reasons: one being that she is the first grandchild to be married, two being that I get to drive an hour and a half with three Italian women. If you guessed one of them was Josephine, you're correct. See, since my mom's side is Italian, there's this unspoken rule that you can speak louder than the average person and it's not considered yelling or screaming.

I would anticipate a Josephine file coming from that car ride alone.

But really, I know this will be a gorgeous wedding and I can't wait to see her walk down the aisle. And honestly, who doesn't love weddings? Congratulations you two lovebirds. Hopefully I get there in one piece.

Mini: Haul & Review

I tried avoiding this trip to Ulta for quite a while. I had great intentions; when the urge to shop came over me, I forced myself to do other productive things like laundry, cleaning or painting my nails. Painting my nails just made me realize that I was running out of fall color options, and maybe I really did need to make that drive to Ulta.
I resisted. The next day, a coupon came in the mail for $5 off.
See? I tried.
I've been making notes of products/items that I've needed, or have read really great reviews about. With a whopping $5 off, how could I put this off any longer?

mint julep masque and yes to blueberries facial towelettes

ulta lipstick; sangria and tickled pink
loreal's magic lumi highliter
ulta lipliner; wine and rose

Mint Julep Masque: you've probably walked by this product a million times, have seen it in your mom's pile of products and assumed it would never work. It's inexpensive, so why would it? Put those $20 bills away, ladies! This masque works wonders - intended for acne prone skin, it clears up blackheads, shrinks pores and leaves your skin feeling rejuvenated. For about $5, it will last you quite a while. I use this about once every two weeks.

Yes to Blueberries Age Refresh towelettes: not only do these wipes remove make-up, they refresh and brighten, smell amazing, and you can rest your pretty head knowing that the product is 99% organic. I use them at the end of the day to remove make-up; but on days when I'm letting my face breathe, these are nice for a little refresher.

Ulta lip products: I jumped on the bold, deep red lip train and bought 'sangria', and paired a lip liner to go with it. I'm usually a pale pink gal, so I had to grab 'tickled pink' accompanied with a lip liner as well.

Loreal's Magic Lumi Highliter: I've been pretty obsessed with highlighting and contouring lately, and have heard only but great things about this product. So far so good. Now it just needs to pass the good ol' picture test, and it'll be golden!

The Josephine Files - #4

After I left work yesterday, I made sure I got my vote in [how could i have forgotten; my news feed on facebook was a constant reminder], and then I decided to give Josephine a call to congratulate her.

Congratulate her on what, you ask?

Well - she won the jackpot at bingo the other night. This is a huge deal for her, because Jesus is never on her side and lets her win. She was ecstatic as she continued on to tell me the story. She was down to one spot, B12. It was never going to happen, she explained, so she wasn't getting her hopes up. She prays and prays, and he never follows through.

What do you think the next number that was called was? Uh, B12! She couldn't believe it - Jesus listened. The man with the cash came over and counted it in front of her, for all to see. She even was escorted out to her car; an old lady in a dark parking lot, you never know what could happen.

This was a big night for her. So big, in fact, the next day she went straight to the bank to open a savings account. At 85 years old.

Congrats, Josephine. Glad Jesus came through for ya.

bet she had an even bigger smile collecting her winnings.

Halloween

This year, I chose to stay in on Halloween instead of dressing as the usual 'sexy _____ '. I have to say: I did experience a little envy when I started seeing pictures of people I knew dressed up and ready to go out. But - no worries. My friend Lauren and I tore up trick or treating in style; with wine, ridiculous costumes, and tons of candy (that we may or may not have ate throughout the night).
